Ultraspec Sidewall Retractor

The Ultraspec Retractor is designed to help a practitioner overcome anterior vaginal wall laxity and provide maximum visibility and patient comfort during a procedure. Inserting a Retractor during a procedure provides an additional two blades which are used to gently displace the vaginal sidewalls laterally and create a clearer view of the cervix.   

As obesity rises, medical practitioners have reported an increase in incidents of vaginal side wall prolapse and subsequently had to stop procedures and refer the patient for the treatment under general anaesthetic which creates delays and increased cost for the health service. Referral for a hospital smear under general anaesthetic costs in the region of £300-£500.
