Medical Supermarket scoops Best Small Business in Buckinghamshire 2015
The team at Medical Supermarket are over the moon this month as they were recognised as the Best Small Business in the Entrepreneurial Heart of Britain.
Udhi Silva, Director and Co-founder of Medical Supermarket talks about picking up the award "Our team have worked tirelessly at doing our bit to help healthcare companies save money on their supplies and reinvest that money back into front line patient care. We've come along way since our days working in the spare room next to the girlfriend's knicker drawer as we stand here today we have over 17 staff, a state of the art warehouse supplying over 60,000 lines to 4,500 customers each month."

The Founders of Medical Supermarket were awarded Buckinghamshire's Most prized entrepreneurial recognition award for their leadership of the company they founded only 5 years ago.
Speaking on behalf of the Award Nick Coleman states "Udhi and I understand the importance of networking and that's why we try to meet with people from all industries as often as we can. In our experience no matter what meeting you have you will always learn something. We've travelled out to Iraq to explore joint ventures, we've gone out to Germany to source medical products and we've been to Ireland and America to explore consultancy work. 9/10 times profit doesn't materialise, but we learn, we meet great people and it causes us to evolve our strategy. We're not afraid to trial things, make mistakes, dust ourselves off and move on. We love what we do, we love creating new things, we love employing great people and we love making a difference. You never know what's round the corner, but our eyes are wide open for whatever opportunities.

Medical Supermarket wins 2014 Most Innovative Business at Bedfordshire Business Awards and runner up for Excellence in Customer Service and Best Business.
To be shortlisted for one award is a great achievement, but this week we were told that we were up for 3 awards at the up and coming Bedfordshire Business Awards. We were fortunate to win Bedfordshire's Most Innovative Company and runner up in Excellence in Customer Service and Business of the Year 2014.
Nick Coleman states, "We decided to develop the operational heart of the business in Bedfordshire for a number of reasons but mainly due to the ability to attract great staff. Our warehouse, based in Leighton Buzzard, is a core part of what makes our service and company so great and the team work work tirelessly to ensure all our products are in stock and dispatched on time. The team have devised a set of strict procedures to ensure the highest level of customer service and our core value of always "Being Different" mean we constantly innovate and create new ways of adding value for our customers".
When Consultancy Practice Procure Health decided to build an ecommerce platform, Medical Supermarket, to act as a transactional procurement portal they say it was met with scepticism from industry peers. Four years later, Medical Supermarket have over-come the odds and beaten all their expectations by working with over 3,000 GP surgeries, care homes and other healthcare companies saving their customers in excess of £3.7m per annum. SA Law’s judges were impressed at how Medical Supermarket have embraced innovative technology within their sector to become the first healthcare supplier in the UK to use customer-centric tools such as “buying groups”, to give groups of smaller customers the benefit from joined-up purchasing; effectively “doing their part” to support the NHS 20% cost saving target by 2015.

After being awarded the 2014 Customer Service Excellence Award, the team at Medical Supermarket are jumping for joy at being shortlisted for the prestigious "Supplier of the Year 2014". What has already been a successful year for the guys and girls at the UK's leading primary care supplier, recognition like this is such a rewarding achievement. This is the first award the team have been nominated for which is specific to the primary care industry and with national coverage across hundreds of suppliers.

At an award ceremony held by the Buckinghamshire Ambassadors, Medical Supermarket was congratulated on driving innovative thinking and approaches to helping small healthcare companies save money and time on ordering.
